Lost and found

As I’ve been looking over the Athens-Clarke County reports this week, I’ve found an alarming (but positive) amount of ‘found property’ reports, especially on Wednesday. People are finding various things across the county, especially wallets, and turning them and the IDs in to police.

Lesson #1- Keep track of your belongings! Not everyone is caring in this way.

Lesson #2- Keep up the good work! I have never seen this many reports of good will. We received a letter at The Red & Black earlier this week from a lady who was so thankful that a man returned her wallet to Lost and Found at the SLC that she wanted to find him and give him a reward :)

Question- What was the significance of all these reports coming out on Wednesday? Good spirits before Halloween? Ha.

Does anyone have any positive stories relating to this they’d like to share? Let get the conversations going.

  1. What most of these reports is when people find stuff that had been stolen. The thieves take what they want from the purse or wallet and then just toss it. They might take the cash or the credit cards then toss the rest for someone to find. Most of these aren’t lost, they are just recovered stolen property but police label them as found property if they have yet to be reported stolen. Hope this helps.
