So I typed this up for Nov. 2’s paper, but there wasn’t enough room to run it. I hope those who read this find it interesting.
Two Morris Hall roommates were arrested Wednesday after threatening to hurt each other earlier in the day.
Jasmine Anissa Dukes, 18, was charged with simple battery and Tianna Lashawn Hambrick, 18, was charged with a felony count of aggravated assault after each went to University Police separately and recounted an argument that occurred at 2 p.m.
According to the police reports:
At 4 p.m. Dukes met with Officer John Evans in the Student Learning Center and told him Hambrick picked up a pair of scissors and “began to walk towards her, stating that she was going to cut her and kill her.”
At 5:43 p.m. Evans met with Hambrick in their dorm room, and Hambrick said Dukes “intentionally made physical contact with her by pushing her in a provoking nature.”
Dukes and Hambrick are freshmen who graduated together from Banneker High School in College Park.
After investigating the situation, Evans arrested both and transported them to the Clarke County Jail.
Hambrick was booked at 9:07 p.m. Wednesday and released at 2:07 p.m. Thursday. Dukes was booked at 10:18 p.m. Wednesday and released at 1 p.m. Thursday.

SO THIS IS THE KIND OF PEOPLE UGA HAS LOWERED THEIR STANDARDS TO ALLOW ONTO THE CAMPUS. THEY DON’T SOUND LIKE THEY BELONG IN A UNIVERSITY TO ME. HEY, BUT THEN I AM NOT THE ONE SITTING IN A HIGH POSITION CHAIR TRYING TO KEEP MY BIG PAYING JOB AND KISSING UP TO THOSE ODD FOLKS WHO INSIST ON RECRUTING THESE IDIOTS…..IT’S SICKENING TO THINK THAT MY DAUGHTER HAS TO ASSOCIATE WITH THESE VIOLENT COLLEGE PARK WALLAHS IN THE SAME DORM FOR A YEAR! THEY SHOULD BOTH BE DEALT WITH STRONGLY AND THROWN OUT.
Yes, as a student at the University of Georgia any fight, no matter who is involved or what the circumstances may entail, is wrong for fighing or at least “morally” wrong. Self defense on the other hand is different. However, my response is for the ignorant comment about letting “Violent College Park Wallahs” into the University of Georgia. Despite what anyone may say, that is a racially prejudiced comment and ignorance by such people should not be condoned or tolerated in any such matter. Although, this will not change their mind, I hope next time they think about what they say before they say it…..that “Violent College Park Wallah” may be there daughter’s boss one day.
